Aurore Brun
Did you know that centuries ago, Brussels was built upon a swamp? Remnants of these wetlands still embrace our capital, sheltering a rich life within their lush forests. As a devoted resident and admirer of Brussels, and knitting designer, I felt compelled to honor this unique and vital part of my city into my DRUUM room, in a way that is both deeply sensitive and profoundly sensory, as all my creations are.
My vision was to transport you to an enchanted forest, a glimpse of what Brussels might have been in ancient times. The shapes and lines in my design draw inspiration from the humble weeds that line the houses of our neighborhoods. When you wander outside, take a moment to notice them—they are so unassuming, yet so beautiful.
Crocheting the plants that now adorn the bathroom was a labor of love for me. In the process, I was reminded of nature’s boundless generosity, a gift that far outshines anything we create.
I hope you enjoy the room and every detail of my creations - reading a book under the jungle light above the bed or in the dark, surrounded by the forest's embrace, illuminated by the gentle glow of creeping vines. And on sleepless nights, if you look closely, you may even glimpse a firefly flickering amidst the trees, a tiny echo of the magic that once thrived here.
The room is street-facing and located on the 1st floor.
