Thomas I'Anson

Room 43

Room 43 is the evolving space of artist Thomas I’Anson who is producing artworks in a series of interventions over the course of the 5 year period of display. Much of the Inspiration for the work in the room comes from the Sri Yantra mandala; a symbol containing 43 triangles. This symbol functions in the artist's practice as a motor for a near infinite number of installations and objects that derive form from the intricate nature of the mandala’s geometry. The precision and imperfection existing within the mandala speaks to the artists desire to precisely capture and render forms and the acceptance of this near impossibility.
The first 3 interventions in the space include 43 hand turned porcelain ceramics, a near invisible wall mural and a new form created over the top of the concrete bed of artist Ištvan Išt Huzjan who was the artist here before him.
*As of July 2023, the room has been updated, new photos coming soon*
